Statistical data on organic beekeeping is still lacking in many aspects. This chapter is therefore primarily based on a general context of organic beekeeping worldwide. Having said that, much of the data was obtained recently at the First World Conference on Organic Beekeeping that took place in Sunny Beach, Black Sea Coast, Bulgaria, August 27-29, 20106 and is therefore current. Additional information came from experts on the different topics. It is expected that this chapter will be further developed in the following edition of this book. The next World Conference on Organic Beekeeping will be organized by FiBL, Naturland, and local partners in Mexico in 2012.
