Un ejido forestal en construcción ante la nueva visión agraria

El ejido San Agustín, ubicado en el sur del estado de Yucatán, posee extensos recursos forestales susceptibles de ser aprovechados de forma sustentable. Este artículo expone la situación agraria del ejido y las distintas concepciones e intereses que los grupos que lo integran tienen sobre el monte y la tierra, y que afectan el manejo común forestal. Para explicar estas diferencias se analizó la historia agraria del ejido vinculado al proceso de colonización del sur del estado y a las políticas públicas que incidieron en el uso y tenencia de la tierra. Planteamos que esta historia de negociaciones, adecuaciones y acuerdos entre los distintos integrantes del ejido y con funcionarios gubernamentales y asesores externos explica el control del territorio por el pequeño núcleo de fundadores del ejido y la construcción del proyecto forestal. The San Agustín ejido, located in the south of the State of Yucatán, has extensive forest resources that can be sustainably exploited. This article explains the agrarian status of ejido land and the different conceptions and interests of the groups comprising it regarding the tropical forest and the earth, which affect common forest management. In order to explain these differences, the author analyzed the agrarian history of the ejido land linked to the colonization of the south of the state and the public policies affecting the use and possession of the land. He posited that this history of negotiations, adjustments and agreements between the various members of the ejido and government officials and external advisers explains the control over the territory by the small group of founders of the ejido and the construction of a forestry project.
