El conocimiento de las interacciones interespecíficas entre miriápodos y las especies de Scarabaeinae es escaso. Canthon lucreciae Halffter y Halffter, 2009 es un escarabajo copro-necrófago endémico de formaciones secundarias de selvas tropicales caducifolias en la región central del estado mexicano de Chiapas. Hasta la fecha, esta especie sólo ha sido capturada con trampas de caída cebadas con estiércol y carroña de calamar. Aquí se reporta un nuevo registro de hábitat para C. lucreciae, el bosque tropical húmedo de la Zona Sujeta a Conservación Ecológica La Pera, y se describe por primera vez a esta especie atacando a un espécimen herido del milpiés Messicobolus magnificus (Causey, 1954).

Knowledge of interspecific interactions between myriapods and Scarabaeinae species is scarce. Canthon lucreciae Halffter & Halffter, 2009 is a copro-necrophagous beetle endemic to secondary formations of tropical deciduous forests in the central region of the Mexican state of Chiapas. To date, this species has only been captured with pitfall traps baited with dung and squid carrion. Here we report a new habitat record for C. lucreciae, the tropical rainforests at La Pera Ecological Conservation Zone, and describe for the first time, this species attacking a wounded specimen of the millipede Messicobolus magnificus (Causey, 1954).
