Se realizó el estudio de cuatro especies de aves del género Passerina, en la Reserva de la Biosfera LaSepultura, Chiapas, México con el objetivo de conocer los sitios de ocurrencia y estimar su distribución ysu abundancia. El estudio consistió en realizar la recopilación de registros actuales e históricos en basesde datos curatoriales y el muestreo en seis localidades que fueron visitadas durante el período de eneroa diciembre de 1999. Los registros recopilados, fueron georreferenciados, digitalizándose también ladistribución de los tipos de vegetación y el gradiente altitudinal de la zona de estudio. Mediante análisis desobreposición de estas coberturas y las tolerancias ecológicas reportadas y observadas para las especies,se generaron tres mapas: uno sobre la ocurrencia de las cuatro especies y otros dos sobre las áreas dedistribución potencial, para las especies residentes. La abundancia relativa se obtuvo por temporada (secay húmeda) para cada una de las especies del género, con relación al esfuerzo de muestreo y expresadoen porcentaje para cada localidad. Los resultados de abundancia fueron analizados mediante la pruebaestadística de G. Las localidades donde se registraron las especies del género, se localizan en cincomunicipios en los que se ubica la Reserva, distribuyéndose las especies residentes de manera restringidaal bosque tropical subcaducifolio. Las especies migratorias presentaron un amplio rango de distribución,pudiendo habitar bosques de pino, bosques de pino-encino y bosques mesófilos de montaña. Laabundancia de las especies del género, fue mayor en lo que corresponde en la región cercana al Istmo deTehuantepec. Español

The study of four species of birds of genus Passerina in the Biosphere Reserve La Sepultura, Chiapas,Mexico was carried out. The objective was to know the ocurrence places and to estimate their distributionand abundance. The search consisted on carrying out the summary of current and historical records indatabases and the sampling in six sites that were visited during January to December of 1999. All recordswere assigned to a coordinate system, being also digiized the distribution of types of vegetation and thegradient altitudinal of the study of area. By means of analysis of averlaps of these coverings and the reportedecological tolerances and observed for the species, three maps were generated: one of the ocurrence of thefour species and other two on the areas of potential distribution, for the species residents. The relativeabundance was obtained by season (dry and humid) for each one of the species of the genus, withrelationship to the sampling effort and expressed in percentage for each site. The results of abundance wereanalyzed by the statistical test of G. The sites of ocurrence of the species of the genus are in fivemunicipalities in those that the Reserve is located. The resident species are restricted to the distribution of Tropical Semi-Deciduous Forest. The migratory species presented a wide distribution range, being able toinhabit pine forest, pine-oak forest and cloud forests. The abundance of the species of the genus, it wasgreater in the nearby region to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Español
