This paper examines the effectiveness of an easy to use vermicomposting system to reduce waste and produce fertilizer in a community in Tabasco, Mexico. The vermicomposting unit includes a mill to reduce the particle size of the organic material and a drawer to remove the compost. Women were chosen as the focus for the study because they are the home supporters in the region. The project also provided environmental education for children to understand the importance of waste separation and compost production.
